Thank You Orlando Small Businesses

Lifting my heavily-lidded eyes to peer up through the haze of government forms and procedures, I peek at the calendar, which today says: July.

And we are still doing tax work.

This year has been insane. Yet we have had the PRIVILEGE to walk alongside you through major disruptions and chaos.

Because I do count it as a privilege. Small businesses are the hidden engine of our economy, and perhaps even our culture. And as a group, you’ve been completely walloped by what this pandemic has wrought, through no failing of your own.

And you are still standing.

This week — in the middle of July — is tax deadline week. Estimated taxes for two quarters are also due.

As you might imagine, it’s still quite a busy time here at Team Qasim. And it’s not over. We have PPP forgiveness to navigate, the Main Street Lending Program options to wade through with Orlando clients, and all of the extension work that we are still handling.

Somewhere in there we’ll be taking a break.

But this week’s deadline gives me the chance to say (again): We are extremely grateful for your trust.

THANK YOU.

It’s always been our hope that we take a process that is so painful and time-consuming (with so much waste), and convert it into a profitable enterprise (for YOU) through smart tax planning and coaching of our Orlando clients. And we’ve watched some amazing business stories be written in the midst of this crisis. Some stories are still being written.

We’re proud to say that we have seen those good stories this year, and that we’ve continued to grow on the strength of your referrals.

I won’t be sharing strategic business wisdom today (I hope you’ll forgive our needing to stay focused), but I would like to make one last request:

If you have filed your taxes with us, would you…

1) Write something of your experience for other people to know about in the future? Yelp and Google seem to be the place where many people are looking these days, and your words there would mean a great deal…

Make us smile with a review on Google

(And if for some reason you weren’t satisfied with our service, please write me back personally. I will do everything within my power to make it right, and will make it a priority, even this week.)

2) Share us on YOUR Facebook wall…?

Here’s something you could post on your profile, if so inclined:

“I had my taxes prepared by Kazim Qasim’s team, and had a great experience. And even now, they’re willing to review your tax return to make sure that everything was done right for you … Give them a call at: (407) 583-6444 and let them know I told you to call.” https://www.facebook.com/AZSAccounting/

Or some such … thanks again.

I will end by saying this:

I have been reminded, once again, this year: YOU are the engine of growth for this country. No matter what the politicians may want to take credit for, it’s people like you (Orlando business owners, entrepreneurs, executives and risk-takers) who are responsible for maintaining the economic engine of our nation — which, in turn, enables so many other things.

YOU are providing hope for your employees, their families, your customers, and the markets that you serve.

What a privilege it is for us to serve you. To know you.

And so I will leave you with something that was recently sent to me, that I thought might encourage you, wherever you and your business might find yourself right now:

A word upon the graver teaching of the mountains…

See yonder height! ‘Tis far away — unbidden comes the word, “Impossible!”

“Not so,” says the mountaineer.

“The way is long, I know; it’s difficult — it may be dangerous. It’s possible, I’m sure. I’ll seek the way, take counsel of my brother mountaineers, and find out how they have gained similar heights … we know that each height, each step, must be gained by patient, laborious toil, and that wishing cannot take the place of working … and we come back to our daily occupations better fitted to fight the battle of life and to overcome the impediments which obstruct our paths, strengthened and cheered by the recollections of past labors and by the memories of victories gained in other fields.”

(Edward Whymper, Scrambles Amongst the Alps)

Let’s finish 2020 strong.

Warmly,

Kazim Qasim
